This had to be one of the key overnight stops for me, staying on a Naval Shipyard. Where we stayed is called a Camperplaatsen or Stellplatz. It is basically a motorhome/campervan campsite in a car park. But with the added luxuries such as toilet, shower, electricity, waste disposal and water facilities.
This was the first time we had stopped in a camperplaatsen, I have wanted to ensure Christina's safety and have so far only stayed on proper campsites. However, this one came highly recommended and I couldn't resist the chance to stay on an actual Naval Shipyard.
Marine Museum
The Marine Museum in Willemsoord is located in the original military dock. You can wander round the dockyard for free, and will find a yacht marina, naval ships, museum exhibits, restaurants and cafes. The dockyard is gradually being redeveloped into a cultural and entertainment area. There is a multiplex cinema, children's soft play and lots of places to eat.
The museum buildings are spread around the dockyard and thankfully there were English translations on the information panels.
