Deciding on a visit to Mulhouse Zoo, mainly because it offered the chance to see some polar bears. Despite checking for buses to the zoo from our campsite, realised that we would have to walk. What I didn't realise was is we would have to scale a slope which felt like climbing Everest. I have to be honest and admit to catching a bus the last half mile or so.
We had a lovely time and saw lots of amazing animals and birds. The zoo is huge and hilly but beautifully landscaped and laid out. It was hard to believe we were so near to such a big busy city.
The highlight of our trip was definitely seeing the polar bears, one of which decided to take a leisurely swim. We both could have watched that polar bear swimming all day!
We had worked up quite an appetite walking around the zoo we decided to treat ourselves to some lunch in the zoo. We shared a portion of frites. Followed by ice cream and a crepe noisette.
All in all a fabulous day out. We then caught the bus down into the Centre Ville and had a walk around Mulhouse city centre. I honestly hadn't appreciated how big Mulhouse actually is.
